Frequently Asked Questions
What is Photo Manipulation?
Photo Manipulation is taking a photo and making into something entirely different. Well, maybe not entirely. For example, when you've taken a photo and changed the colors so it looks more like a fairy tale, that is photo manipulation. When you remove the red-eye from a scanned photograph, that is photo manipulation. One of the more popular forms of photo manipulation is the coloring of black and white photos. I've often seen this in greeting cards.
What programs do you use?
That actually completely depends on the type of graphic I'm doing, and how much detail I need. But, generally, I bounce between Adobe Photoshop and Cinema 4D. I never like settling for just one program because there will always be something I can do in one program that I unable to do in another.
How long did it take you to learn HTML?
Technically, I'm still learning. Basic HTML (setting up a boring page with no styles) took me about 6 months, and that was because I was using point and click to make layouts. My mother actually pointed it out to me, though I think she's sort of annoyed with how fast I took to it. Having to ask someone half your age how to do something is probably ego grating, though amusing to me. Back to the question though. To this day I am still learning things about CSS, Java, PHP and all that, but yes, basic HTML took me about 6 months of trial and error.
Who taught you how to design things?
Well, I suppose the absolute honest answer to that would be, the millions of tutorials on the world wide web, along with, of course, trial and error. I've yet to take any classes and half the time I could never be bothered with listening to the silly high school teachers who tried to teach us how to make pretty looking title pages for our reports. So I suppose the vague answer to that would be, "I did."
If you've been designing for so long, why isn't there more here?
I have gone through 4 computer, all dying in rather spectacular ways, mostly due to thunderstorms, though there was one that was simply too old. While I may backup things, I never bothered saving absolutely everything. If I did, I'd have more CD's full of images then I have music CD's.
What are the prices for ordering graphics?
Honestly, it all depends on what you want, though I do know layouts will completely depend on what you want. Graphics will depend on it's size, and if you start asking for more difficult things, the price may have to go up.
You have no pixel designs, why?
Oh, I do. Just not here. And I doubt they will ever see the internet again, (unless someone has them posted elsewhere) In all actuality, Pixel design is something I do extremely rarely and only if there is a great deal of motivation behind it, other then that, I sort of just fade out and never finish what I was working on. I must have a couple hundred unfinished pixel designs on various backup CDs that will probably never be finished.
Will you teach me HTML?
Now why would you ask such a silly question? Of course
not
. There are literally hundreds of websites, if not thousands, that have tutorials on HTML; that's not including the websites with CSS and Graphics tutorials. Go do a search on
Google
, I'm rather certain you can find
something
there.
I don't have any money, will you design something for me anyway?
No. I've done that for many years, only asking for favours in return, only to have people back out or flat out refuse. I've also had rather rude people who decided that just because I was designing it, they had the right to insult my work and demand I do it again. If you want a free design, go see what's already available, I'm not doing custom work for free though.
